Affordable

Housing

Housing costs in St. John’s are squeezing out seniors, families, and young people. Currently, over 5,000 households can’t find housing priced below $1,400 per month, and too many renters spend more than 30% of their income just to keep a roof overhead.
I will advocate for speeding up affordable housing projects, reducing bureaucratic delays, and fostering stronger partnerships to increase affordable housing options for residents.

Responsible

Spending

Residents are already feeling the pressure of rising costs, and increasing property taxes will only make things harder. City Hall must focus on responsible budgeting, cut unnecessary spending, and invest in the services that matter most. I’m committed to standing against property tax hikes. I will push Council to be transparent, efficient, and accountable to you.

Public

Safety

Public safety requires prevention as much as enforcement. By fully implementing St. John’s own Building Safer Communities Strategy, we can support at-risk youth, strengthen mental health initiatives, and empower neighbourhoods to lead safety improvements. We must also collaborate with local law enforcement and community groups, opening lines of communication to better understand and address the needs of our community.
I’ll champion these community-based solutions to build safer, stronger neighbourhoods.

Better Public Transit That Works for Everyone

Our public transit system must be reliable, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of our community. Seniors and residents with disabilities continue to face serious challenges using GoBus — from long wait times to inefficient booking systems. We must modernize GoBus to make it faster, more accessible, and truly dependable for those who need it most.

At the same time, Metrobus must continue to improve service coverage, frequency, and accessibility. A strong transit system is essential for affordability, independence, and opportunity. I will advocate for a better-connected, more efficient transit network that puts riders first — especially our most vulnerable.

Standing With Small

Business

Small businesses drive St. John’s economy, providing jobs and services we rely on every day. But they’re facing rising costs and regulatory hurdles.
I’ll advocate for policies that support local businesses—reducing barriers, improving local procurement opportunities, and ensuring that small business voices are heard at St. Johns city council.

Inclusive Programming For

All Kids

Every child deserves a place to belong, to grow, and to thrive.
Our city must do more to ensure that recreation programs, after-school activities, and community events are welcoming and accessible to all kids — including children with disabilities, neurodivergent kids, and those who need extra support.

I will advocate for expanded inclusive programming, better accessibility standards, and additional training for staff — so that every child in our community can participate fully and feel valued.

Better

Infrastructure

And

Transportation

Our roads and sidewalks require urgent attention, and our transit system must become more reliable and accessible. Recent investments in transit offer opportunities for real improvements, but we need to ensure these resources directly benefit residents.
I will strongly advocate for timely road repairs, safer pedestrian pathways, and improved public transit services that meet our community’s needs.

Cutting Red

Tape

City Hall should support residents—not slow them down. Whether you’re opening a business, upgrading your property, or organizing community events, the city’s processes should be clear and helpful—not complicated and frustrating.
I’ll advocate for streamlined approvals and simplified processes that empower residents and local businesses.

Meet Greg

     Greg

My name is Greg Dunne, and I’m proud to call this city my home. I’m not a politician — I’m a neighbour, a worker, a volunteer, and someone who genuinely cares about where we’re headed as a community.

I've always stepped up when my community needed a hand. I’m currently involved with the YMCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the John Howard Society, organizations working on the front lines of youth support, justice, and community development. I also work as a Student Assistant and CEP Officer, balancing education and safety with hands-on experience. These roles keep me connected to the real issues people face every day — and they remind me why we need leadership rooted in service, not politics.

I’m also an athlete and competitor. It’s not just about strength, it’s about showing up, doing the work, and pushing through when things get tough. That same mindset drives my commitment to public service.

I’m running for St. Johns city council because I believe in a city where everyone feels safe, supported, and heard. That means real investment in affordable housing. It means better local services that meet the needs of every neighbourhood. And it means taking a no-nonsense, grassroots approach to leadership, one that listens first and leads with action.

I’m here to build a stronger, safer, more connected city, one that puts people first and works for everyone.
